Atrophia, Atrophie gr. trephô nähre, einfacher Schwund eines Teiles durch Abnahme der Einzelteile an Größe oder Zahl (= numerische Atrophie). Fettige Atrophie der Schwund durch Aufsaugung von verfetteten Gewebsteilen. Atrophia musculairis progressiva s. Muskelatrophie. Atrophia nervi optici Sehnervenatrophie, angeboren oder durch Retinitis, Neuritis optica, s. d., Phthisis bulbi, Gehirn- oder Rückenmarkleiden erworben, besonders nach Syphilis. Atrophia laevis linguae VIRCHOW glatte Atrophie der Zungenwurzel, durch Syphilis. Atrophia hepatis acuta akute gelbe Leberatrophie. Atrophia senilis Altersschwund; s. a. Inaktivitätsatrophie.
